Microneedling and Mesotherapy Near Mirdif Dubai
Microneedling and mesotherapy near Mirdif Dubai often appear on the same treatment plan, and for good reason: one creates temporary channels through the skin surface, the other delivers active ingredients into the dermis. Used together they address scarring, texture and general skin quality more effectively than either manages alone. We deliver both at Villa 44C, 83rd Street in Mirdif, where a doctor performs the injecting rather than a therapist — which matters more for mesotherapy than most patients realise. Two Treatments That Work Differently
Patients frequently assume these are versions of the same thing. They are not, and understanding the difference helps you judge what you actually need.
Microneedling works mechanically. A pen fitted with fine sterile needles creates controlled micro-injuries at a set depth, and your skin responds by producing collagen as it repairs. The treatment introduces nothing; it simply provokes a healing response. Clinics also call it collagen induction therapy.
Mesotherapy works by delivery. A series of tiny injections places a solution directly into the dermis, at a depth topical skincare cannot reach. The needling is incidental; the point is what goes in.
Why the Two Pair Well
Microneedling leaves the skin briefly permeable. Applying or injecting actives around that window gets them further in than they would otherwise travel, so the collagen response from needling and the hydration or brightening from the solution build on each other rather than competing.
That said, combining them is a decision rather than a default. Sensitive or reactive skin sometimes tolerates one but not both in a single sitting, and we occasionally alternate them across a course instead.
What Each One Treats Well
Microneedling suits:
- Indented acne scarring, which is where it performs best — see our acne page for how scar work sequences after active breakouts settle
- Rough or uneven texture
- Enlarged pores
- Fine lines and early loss of firmness
- Stretch marks and scars elsewhere on the body
Mesotherapy suits:
- Dull, dehydrated skin that topical products are not reaching
- Skin quality and elasticity rather than a specific lesion
- Fine lines, as part of a course
- Areas where skin has thinned, such as the neck and around the eyes
If your concern is a condition rather than skin quality, neither treatment is the answer on its own. Our skin treatment page maps concerns to the treatments that address them.
The Safety Question Salons Do Not Raise
This is the part worth reading before you book mesotherapy anywhere, here included.
Mesotherapy is a medical procedure, but it is widely offered in non-medical settings, and the published literature is blunt about it: regulation barely touches the practice, cocktails frequently contain compounds nobody ever standardised, and unlicensed practitioners often perform it. Reports describe solutions in circulation containing multivitamins, herbal extracts, hormones, anti-inflammatory agents, vasodilators, muscle relaxants, minerals and enzymes in various combinations.
The documented complications follow from exactly that. Case reports describe foreign-body granulomas, persistent nodules and bacterial infections, and reviews trace them to product impurities, low-grade infection and poor injection technique rather than to the concept of mesotherapy itself. One systematic review of mesotherapy-associated mycobacterial skin infection collected 423 patients. Case reports describe facial granulomas developing weeks after treatment in a non-medical setting, and in one instance after a patient injected a solution she had bought herself, where nobody could later establish what was in it.
Now the other side, because this is not an argument against the treatment. Registered hyaluronic-acid-based injectables administered in medical settings show complication rates below one percent, and studies of hyaluronic acid specifically report figures around two in a thousand. Where a clinic uses a registered, traceable product and a doctor injects it, the risk profile looks entirely reasonable.
So the question to ask any clinic is not whether mesotherapy is safe. It is who will inject you, and what exactly they are injecting. Ask it here too.
Microneedling Risks Worth Knowing
Microneedling is the lower-risk of the two, though it is not risk-free, and three points deserve stating.
Depth matters enormously. Needling too deeply, or dragging the pen across the skin rather than lifting it between passes, can leave permanent linear marks. We set the depth according to the area and your skin, and the face needs different settings from the body.
Pigmentation. Any treatment that inflames the skin can leave dark marks on medium and deeper skin tones, which describes most patients here. We therefore keep settings conservative, and sun protection afterwards is not negotiable.
Never over active infection or inflammatory acne. Needling through an infected or actively inflamed area spreads it, so we clear active breakouts first and scar work waits. Clinics that sell microneedling as an acne treatment rather than a scar treatment make this mistake more often than any other.
Who Should Not Have Either Treatment
Tell us at booking if any of these apply:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active acne, skin infection or a cold sore in the area
- A history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
- Blood-thinning medication or a bleeding disorder
- A recent course of strong oral acne medication, which leaves skin fragile for months
- Diabetes or any condition that slows wound healing
- An immune condition or immunosuppressive medication
- Known allergy to any component of the injected solution, which is one reason knowing the product matters
- Recent peels, laser or injectable treatment within a couple of weeks
- Current or recent cancer treatment
During and After the Appointment
Numbing cream goes on first and sits for around 20 to 30 minutes, so allow extra time. Microneedling then feels like a vibrating scratch, more noticeable across bone such as the forehead and jawline. Mesotherapy injections feel like a series of quick pinpricks. Neither is severe, though neither is comfortable either.
Expect redness resembling mild sunburn for one to three days, occasional pinpoint bruising after mesotherapy, and some tightness or flaking as the skin settles. Leave makeup off for 24 hours, skip actives and scrubs for several days, avoid the gym, sauna, steam room and swimming for two days, and use sunscreen diligently for weeks rather than days.
Improvement builds over the following weeks as collagen forms, so the result three months after a course looks better than the result three days after a session. Individual results vary with skin type, age, the concern itself and how consistently you keep to the aftercare.
Planning a Course
Microneedling for acne scarring typically runs three to six sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, with deeper scarring needing more. Texture and fine lines often respond within three or four.
Mesotherapy is usually a course of three to four sessions a few weeks apart, then maintenance every few months, because the effect is a top-up rather than a structural change.
Nobody can promise a precise number at the outset. An aesthetics consultation gives you a realistic plan once Dr. Sarah has examined your skin, and if she finds something medical we move you to a dermatology consultation instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between microneedling and mesotherapy?
Microneedling works mechanically, creating controlled micro-injuries so your skin produces collagen while repairing. Mesotherapy works by delivery, placing a solution into the dermis through tiny injections. One provokes a response, the other introduces something.
Is mesotherapy safe?
It depends almost entirely on who injects you and what they inject. Published reviews link the documented complications, including granulomas and infections, to unregistered products, product impurities and poor technique in non-medical settings. Registered products injected by a doctor in a clinical setting show complication rates below one percent. Ask any clinic both questions before booking.
Does microneedling hurt?
Numbing cream goes on 20 to 30 minutes beforehand, which takes the edge off considerably. It then feels like a vibrating scratch, sharper over bony areas such as the forehead and jawline. Uncomfortable rather than painful.
How long is the redness afterwards?
Usually one to three days, resembling mild sunburn. Mesotherapy can also leave pinpoint bruising for a few days. Plan around any event rather than booking days beforehand.
Will microneedling remove my acne scars?
It improves indented scarring rather than erasing it, and improvement builds across a course as collagen forms. Deep or long-standing scars respond partially. Anyone promising removal is overselling it.
Can I have microneedling if I still have active acne?
No. Needling through actively inflamed or infected skin spreads the problem. We clear active breakouts first, and scar work follows once things settle.
Is microneedling safe on deeper skin tones?
Yes, with conservative settings and disciplined sun protection. Any treatment that inflames skin can leave dark marks on medium and deeper tones, so we choose depth and intensity accordingly rather than pushing them.
How many sessions will I need?
Microneedling for scarring typically runs three to six sessions four to six weeks apart. Mesotherapy usually runs three to four sessions, then occasional maintenance. Your assessment gives a realistic estimate for what you have.
Can the two be combined in one appointment?
Often, and the pairing works well, because needling briefly makes the skin more permeable. Reactive skin sometimes tolerates one but not both together, in which case we alternate them across a course.
Who will carry out the treatment?
Mesotherapy involves injections, which belong with a licensed doctor rather than a therapist. Ask any clinic who holds the needle and what qualification they hold, and be wary of a vague answer.
