Dermapen and Salmon DNA Near Mirdif Dubai
Dermapen and salmon DNA near Mirdif Dubai get sold as a package by half the clinics in the city, and almost none of them explain the part that actually matters: the order, and the gap between sessions. Needling first opens the door. Polynucleotides walk through it. Get the sequence or the spacing wrong and you have paid for two treatments that partly cancel each other. This page runs through the whole course as it happens, session by session and day by day, so you know what you are buying before you book. Call 04 268 8226 to start with an assessment.
Why the Order Matters More Than Either Treatment
Microneedling provokes your skin into repair mode and briefly leaves the surface permeable. That window is short. Polynucleotides delivered inside it reach the layer where they work, while the skin is already producing the machinery to use them.
Reverse the order and the polynucleotides sit in skin that has not been prompted to do anything with them. Leave a fortnight between the two and the window has closed. Run both too aggressively in one sitting and the skin inflames enough that recovery undoes what the session achieved. The combination is not one treatment plus another treatment. It is a sequence with a timing tolerance, which is why the calendar below matters as much as the technique.
Before You Book: What Assessment Decides
Nothing gets scheduled until Dr. Sarah has looked at your skin, and four things get settled at that appointment.
Whether needling is appropriate at all. Active acne rules it out for now, because needling through inflamed or infected skin spreads it. Scar work waits until breakouts settle, and our acne page covers that sequence.
Needle depth. Set by area and by your skin, not by a default. The forehead and jawline differ from the cheeks, and medium to deeper skin tones get more conservative settings because inflammation leaves marks on them more readily.
Fish allergy. Polynucleotides come from salmon or trout. Raise any fish or seafood reaction here, before anything is booked, and expect a sourcing discussion and a patch test rather than a straightforward appointment.
Whether to combine at all. Reactive skin sometimes tolerates one but not both together, in which case we alternate them across the course instead of stacking them. That is a common outcome and not a downgrade.
Session One, Minute by Minute
First 30 minutes. Numbing cream goes on and sits. Arrive with a clean face and nothing on your skin. Bring something to read.
Next 15 to 20 minutes. Dr. Sarah works across the treatment area in passes, lifting the pen between them rather than dragging it. It feels like a vibrating scratch, sharper over bone. Pinpoint bleeding is normal and expected on a properly performed pass.
Next 15 to 30 minutes. Polynucleotides go in through a series of small injections while the skin is still primed. Each feels like a brief sting, easier than the needling that preceded it.
Final 10 minutes. Something calming goes on, and you get your aftercare instructions in writing rather than verbally, because nobody remembers them otherwise. Total appointment: around 90 minutes on a first visit.
The First Week, Day by Day
Day 0, the evening after. Your face looks like mild sunburn and feels hot and tight. Small raised bumps sit where the injections went. Skip the gym. Sleep on a clean pillowcase. Nothing on your skin but what we gave you.
Day 1. Redness persists and the bumps mostly settle. Some pinpoint bruising may appear, particularly around the eyes. No makeup today. No sauna, steam room, swimming or hot yoga.
Day 2. Redness fades toward pink. The skin feels rough, like fine sandpaper, which is normal and not a reaction. Still no actives, no scrubs, no exfoliation of any kind.
Days 3 to 4. Light flaking begins. Do not help it along. Picking at flaking skin after needling is the fastest route to a mark that outlasts the treatment by months.
Days 5 to 7. Flaking finishes and most people notice their skin looks brighter and feels smoother than before. This is the surface effect, not the result. The actual result is still being built underneath.
Sunscreen from day two onward, applied properly and reapplied. This is not routine advice on this protocol — freshly needled skin takes up pigment readily, and on medium to deeper skin tones a mark picked up now can sit there for months.
Weeks Two to Four: The Part You Cannot See
Nothing much happens visibly, and patients frequently assume the treatment has stopped working. It has not.
Collagen forms slowly. The repair response your session triggered runs for weeks after the redness has gone, and the polynucleotides continue supporting it rather than delivering a one-off hit. Judging the treatment at week two is like judging bread at the point you put it in the oven.
What to do during it: nothing dramatic. Gentle cleansing, moisturiser, sunscreen. Reintroduce retinoids or acids only when we tell you, usually after a week to ten days. Do not book another treatment elsewhere in the meantime.
Sessions Two and Three
Session two lands two to four weeks after the first, and it feels different. Skin that has already been through one round tolerates the second more comfortably, and recovery is usually shorter by a day.
Depth may increase slightly if your first session healed cleanly. It may also stay exactly where it was, or drop, if your skin reacted more than expected. That decision gets made by looking at you rather than by following a plan written a month earlier.
Session three follows on the same spacing. By this point most patients report the change themselves before we ask — usually texture first, then tone.
Month Three: What You Should Actually See
This is the honest checkpoint, roughly six to eight weeks after your final session, when collagen laid down across the course has matured.
Realistic: smoother texture, smaller-looking pores, better light reflection off the skin, some improvement in indented acne scarring, and skin that feels more resilient. Thin or crepey areas under the eyes and on the neck often respond noticeably.
Not realistic: lifting, contouring, volume, or the removal of deep scars. This protocol improves skin quality and partially improves scarring. It does not restructure a face, and anyone selling it that way is overselling. Individual results vary with skin type, age, general health and how consistently you protected the skin between sessions.
For what the evidence base actually supports on the polynucleotide side, including the regulatory position and the difference between PN and PDRN, see our salmon DNA page. Needle depth, settings and the risks specific to needling sit on the microneedling page.
Then What? Maintenance
Results hold for months rather than permanently, because collagen turns over and the polynucleotides metabolise. Most patients return for a single session every six to twelve months, and some prefer two sessions a year timed before events.
Decide now whether that suits you. A protocol you abandon after one course leaves you where you started, minus the cost. A protocol you maintain twice a year compounds.
Where We Modify the Protocol
The timeline above describes the standard course. Several things change it:
- Medium to deeper skin tones — shallower depth, gentler passes, longer gaps, stricter sun protection
- Reactive or rosacea-prone skin — we usually separate the two treatments rather than combining them
- Thin skin under the eyes or on the neck — reduced depth, and polynucleotides often carry more of the work
- Indented acne scarring — more sessions, wider spacing, and needling weighted over injection
- An event in the diary — the course finishes at least two weeks before it, never days
- Slower healers — four weeks between sessions rather than two
When We Would Not Run It
Tell us at booking if any of these apply. Some rule the protocol out entirely, others change it:
- Fish or seafood allergy, which needs addressing before anything else
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Active acne, skin infection or a cold sore in the area
- A history of keloid scarring, or nodules after previous injectables
- Blood-thinning medication or a bleeding disorder
- A recent course of strong oral acne medication
- Diabetes or any condition that slows healing
- An autoimmune or granulomatous condition, or immunosuppressive medication
- Current or recent cancer treatment
- Peels, laser or other injectables within the past two weeks
Our Clinic in Mirdif
Dermabloom Medical Center sits at Villa 44C, 83rd Street, Mirdif, Dubai, with parking outside, and patients come to us from Mirdif, Uptown Mirdif, Al Mizhar, Al Warqa, Al Khawaneej, Nad Al Hamar, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah, Al Qusais and Dubai Festival City. This is a three-visit course spread across six to twelve weeks with maintenance afterwards, so a short journey genuinely affects whether people finish it. Dr. Sarah Magdy performs the treatment, an aesthetics consultation starts the process, and there is more about the clinic if you want it.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the first appointment take?
Around 90 minutes. Numbing cream accounts for the first 30, needling 15 to 20, polynucleotide delivery 15 to 30, and a calming step at the end. Later sessions run slightly shorter.
How long before I can wear makeup again?
Leave it off for a full 24 hours. Skin is still closing over during that window and makeup gives bacteria somewhere to sit.
When can I go back to the gym?
After two days. Sweat, heat and friction on freshly needled skin all raise the risk of irritation and breakouts, which is a poor trade for one workout.
How many days will I look red?
Most people look like they have mild sunburn on day zero and day one, fading to pink by day two. Light flaking follows on days three and four and finishes by the end of the week.
Why does my skin feel rough two days afterwards?
That sandpapery texture is normal healing, not a reaction. It settles as the flaking phase passes. Do not exfoliate it, however tempting.
Why does nothing seem to be happening at week two?
Because collagen forms slowly. The repair response runs for weeks after visible redness has gone, so the result builds underneath long after the surface has settled. Week two is too early to judge anything.
How long between sessions?
Two to four weeks, with slower healers going toward four. Closer than two weeks does not allow recovery, and much further apart loses the momentum of the course.
When will I see the real result?
Around month three, roughly six to eight weeks after your final session, once collagen has matured. The brightness you notice at day five to seven is a surface effect rather than the outcome.
How soon before a wedding should I finish the course?
Finish at least two weeks before, and start eight to twelve weeks out so you complete three sessions comfortably. Never book a first session in the fortnight beforehand.
How often do I come back after the course?
A single maintenance session every six to twelve months suits most patients. Results hold for months rather than permanently, because collagen turns over and the product metabolises.
