Upper Face Botulinum Toxin Near Mirdif Dubai

Upper face botulinum toxin near Mirdif Dubai involves three injection sites and one underlying problem, and almost nobody explains the problem. Your forehead muscle lifts your brows. Two smaller muscles between them pull the brows down. Treatment shifts the balance between those two forces, and every bad result you have heard about — heavy brows, surprised-looking brows, eyelids that suddenly look hooded — comes from shifting it in the wrong direction. Dermabloom Medical Center sits at Villa 44C, 83rd Street in Mirdif. Call 04 268 8226 to book an assessment.

One Muscle Lifts, Two Pull Down

The anatomy here is unusually simple, which makes the consequences easy to follow.

Frontalis is your forehead muscle, and it is the only muscle you have that raises your eyebrows. Every time you look surprised, read something small, or open your eyes wider, frontalis does it. It also creates the horizontal lines across your forehead, which is why patients want it treated.

The corrugators and procerus sit between your brows. They pull the brows down and inward, and they create the vertical frown lines plus the horizontal crease at the bridge of the nose.

Those two groups oppose each other constantly. Relax frontalis and the downward pullers win, so your brows sit lower. Relax the frown muscles and frontalis wins, so your brows sit slightly higher. Treatment is therefore never about smoothing one area in isolation, and any clinic treating your forehead without considering your frown muscles is working with half the picture.

Why Treating the Forehead Alone Goes Wrong

This is the most common mistake in upper-face treatment, and it explains most complaints.

A patient dislikes their forehead lines, so a clinic treats the forehead. The lines smooth out. But frontalis now cannot lift as well, while the corrugators keep pulling down at full strength. The brows settle lower, the upper lids look heavier, and the patient reports feeling tired-looking rather than refreshed.

Treating the frown muscles alongside the forehead keeps the two forces in proportion. That pairing is standard practice for a reason, and treating the forehead alone is something we generally avoid.

Why the Frown Lines Are the Best Place to Start

If you have never had this treatment, the frown area is the sensible first step.

It gives a reliable result, it addresses the lines that read as tension or anger on a resting face, and relaxing those downward pullers often lifts the brow position slightly rather than lowering it. So the failure mode, if any, tends toward looking more open rather than heavier.

Plenty of patients discover after frown treatment alone that their forehead bothers them less than they thought, because much of what they disliked was the frown pulling everything down. Starting there costs you a session and tells you a great deal.

Crow’s Feet, and How Low Is Too Low

The lines fanning outward from the outer corner of the eye come from orbicularis oculi, the ring of muscle that closes your eye. Treatment targets the outer portion, which softens those lines when you smile.

Placement matters more than volume here. Injecting too low, toward the lower lid, affects the part of the muscle that supports the lid and shapes your smile. That can flatten the way your cheek lifts, or produce a hollow look under the eye. Staying lateral and keeping a safe distance from the orbital rim avoids it, which is technique rather than product.

Some crow’s feet remain visible at rest because the skin itself has creased. Muscle treatment softens those lines but will not remove them, and skin-directed treatments address them better. Our regenerative options and skin treatment page cover that side.

Brow Position: Lift, Drop and the Surprised Look

Three brow outcomes come up repeatedly, and all three trace back to balance.

A modest lift can follow from treating the downward pullers while leaving frontalis able to work. How much lift you get depends on your own anatomy, so it is something we assess rather than promise.

A drop follows from over-relaxing frontalis, usually when a clinic treats the forehead without the frown muscles, or treats it too heavily.

The surprised or quizzical brow happens when the centre of frontalis relaxes while the outer parts keep pulling, so the outer brow rides up and the arch peaks too sharply. It looks odd, patients notice it immediately, and a small adjustment at your review usually settles it.

That last point is why the two-week review exists rather than being an optional courtesy.

When We Would Not Treat Your Forehead

Some patients should not have forehead treatment at all, and a clinic that treats them anyway creates the very problem patients then blame on the treatment.

Because frontalis is your only brow lifter, anyone whose brows already sit low, or who has heavy or hooded upper lids, is using that muscle continuously to keep the lash line clear. Many do it without realising. Weaken frontalis in that situation and the hooding gets noticeably worse, the eyes feel heavier, and vision can even feel slightly obstructed at the outer edges.

Signs we look for: brows resting close to the orbital rim, upper lid skin resting on the lashes, a habit of raising the brows constantly, and a visible difference in your appearance when you deliberately relax your forehead. If those apply, we will treat your frown lines and crow’s feet and leave frontalis alone, or advise against upper-face treatment entirely.

Hearing no here beats a smooth forehead and heavier eyes.

Dropped Brow Is Not a Drooping Eyelid

Patients use these interchangeably and they are different problems.

A dropped brow means the brow itself sits lower, from over-relaxed frontalis. Common, predictable from the anatomy, and it resolves as the effect wears off over a few months.

A drooping eyelid, where the lid itself hangs lower, happens when product reaches the muscle that raises the lid. It is uncommon, it comes from placement rather than dose, and it also resolves as the effect wears off, though it takes longer and is considerably more noticeable.

Both settle without intervention. Knowing the difference matters mainly so you can describe what you are seeing accurately if you come back concerned.

Men’s Upper Face Behaves Differently

Worth stating, because treating men on a template designed for women produces poor results.

Men’s frontalis and frown muscles are generally stronger and cover more area, so they typically need more product to achieve the same softening, and undertreating them is the usual error. Brow shape goals differ too: a flat, relatively low brow reads as masculine, while the arch that suits many women looks wrong on most men. Lifting a man’s outer brow is a mistake rather than a bonus.

We treat men regularly and plan accordingly.

Why the Two-Week Review Matters Most Here

Movement starts changing around days three to five and settles by roughly two weeks. Brow position problems only become apparent once everything has settled, which is exactly when we see you again.

At that appointment we look at brow height, symmetry, arch shape and whether any area is still moving more than intended. Small adjustments then correct a quizzical brow, an uneven result or an undertreated area. Skipping the review means living with whatever the first session produced for three or four months, which is the actual cost of treating this as optional.

After Treatment

  • Stay upright for four hours and avoid lying face down
  • Skip the gym, sauna, steam room and hot yoga for 24 hours
  • Do not rub, massage or press the treated areas, including during facials
  • Expect small bumps at the injection points for an hour or two
  • Bruising is possible, particularly around the eyes, and settles within days
  • A mild headache in the first day or two is common
  • Makeup is fine after a few hours, applied gently
  • Come back at two weeks even if you think everything looks right

Reasons We Would Hold Off

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • A neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis
  • Previous allergic reaction to botulinum toxin
  • Active infection or inflamed skin at the injection site
  • Bleeding disorders or blood-thinning medication, which raises bruising risk
  • Certain medications, including some antibiotics that interact
  • Low-set brows or hooded upper lids, for forehead treatment specifically

On the practitioner question: DHA restricts fillers and botulinum toxin injections to registered medical consultants and specialist physicians in licensed facilities, and you can check the register yourself. Our full face page covers that and the other facial regions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which upper face areas can be treated?

Three: the frown lines between the brows, the horizontal forehead lines, and the crow’s feet at the outer eye. They interact, so we plan them together rather than treating one in isolation.

Why can I not just have my forehead done?

Your forehead muscle is the only one that lifts your brows, while the frown muscles pull them down. Relax the forehead alone and the downward pull wins, so your brows sit lower and your eyes look heavier. Treating both keeps the forces in proportion.

Will it lift my eyebrows?

Relaxing the muscles that pull the brows down can produce a modest lift, but how much depends on your own anatomy. It is something we assess at your appointment rather than something anyone should promise.

Why do some people get surprised-looking brows?

The centre of the forehead muscle relaxes while the outer parts keep pulling, so the outer brow rides up too sharply. Patients notice it straight away, and a small adjustment at the two-week review usually settles it.

Can I have forehead treatment if I have hooded eyelids?

Often not, and this matters. If your brows sit low or your upper lids are heavy, you are already using your forehead muscle to hold the lash line clear. Weakening it makes the hooding worse. We would treat your frown lines and crow’s feet instead, or advise against it.

What is the difference between a dropped brow and a drooping eyelid?

A dropped brow means the brow sits lower from an over-relaxed forehead muscle, which is common and predictable. A drooping eyelid means the lid itself hangs, which is uncommon and comes from placement. Both resolve as the effect wears off, though the eyelid takes longer.

Do men need different upper face treatment?

Yes. Men’s forehead and frown muscles are generally stronger and cover more area, so they usually need more product, and undertreating is the common error. Brow shape goals differ too, since a flatter brow reads as masculine and lifting the outer brow looks wrong on most men.

Why is the two-week review important?

Because brow position problems only appear once everything has settled, which is at about two weeks. At that appointment we can correct a quizzical brow, an uneven result or an undertreated area. Skip it and you live with the first result for three or four months.

Will it help my crow’s feet if they show when my face is still?

Partly. Muscle treatment softens lines created by movement. Where the skin itself has creased, those lines remain visible and skin-directed treatments address them better.

How long does upper face treatment last?

Roughly three to four months, wearing off gradually. Repeat treatment follows that rhythm, and booking closer than three months apart is generally unnecessary.
